Wesley Tyson: Wesley is the founding partner of the predecessor firm to Tyson Childress, PLLC. He graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne University with a BA in accounting, after which he immediately began working in public accounting. He obtained his CPA license in 2012 (NC 37606). Wesley has experience with all aspects of accounting, though his passion is in working with family-owned businesses, non-profit organizations, and construction companies. He is a member in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA), as well as being a QuickBooks Certified Pro Advisor.
Scott Childress: Scott joined Tyson Childress, PLLC as a partner in 2019. He is a graduate of UNC-Charlotte with a BS in Accounting in 2000 and is a licensed CPA in North Carolina (#30285) since 2003. Scott began his career with a world-wide accounting firm, gaining extensive experience. He then spent ten years in private industry as a CFO and Controller of an entrepreneurial portfolio of companies, and then led the Forecasting, Budget Planning and Analytics team for a large non-profit healthcare company. He uses this extensive experience to assist his current clients with various Tax and Accounting matters. He is a member in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA). Scott has been active in the community serving on numerous boards of directors, church leadership and as a youth basketball coach. Scott and his wife (Amanda) have three children.
Emily Early: Emily is a dedicated staff accountant who joined our firm in 2020 with a solid educational background from Fayetteville State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a bachelor’s degree in banking & finance. Prior to joining us, she gained valuable experience working in treasury within the private sector. At our firm, her responsibilities include tax preparation, bookkeeping, and payroll services.
Rhonda Hill: Rhonda is a skilled bookkeeper who has been a valuable member of our team since 2022. She graduated from King’s College with a focus on Principles of Accounting/Cost Accounting. Rhonda has extensive experience, having worked in bookkeeping and payroll for the NC School System for 16 years and in billing in the private sector for over 4 years. Her role at the firm involves various administrative and payroll tasks. Rhonda is known for her readiness to assist others and her commitment to providing excellent service to our clients.
Kristen Richardson: Kristen is a talented staff accountant who joined our firm in May 2022 while pursuing her graduate degree in accounting. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Wingate University in 2012 and completed her Master of Science in Accounting from UNC-Greensboro in late 2022. Kristen’s role at the firm includes bookkeeping and the preparation of business tax returns. She is currently working towards obtaining her CPA licensure.
Jake Thomas: Jake is a proficient staff accountant who became a part of our team in 2022. He graduated from West Virginia University in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Jake brings with him five years of experience in banking and two years as a staff accountant in the private sector. His responsibilities at our firm encompass tax preparation, bookkeeping, sales tax compliance, and consulting services. Jake is also in the process of obtaining his CPA licensure.
Ashley Petty: Ashley is our enthusiastic administrative assistant who has been with the firm since December 2022. She initially studied early childhood education at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College before shifting her career path to customer service management and hospitality. Ashley worked in the hospitality industry for 13 years before joining our team. She is the friendly face who greets you at the door and is always eager to assist with any needs.
Taylor Griffin: Taylor first joined our firm as an intern while attending Wingate University and transitioned to a staff accountant role upon graduation. She later earned her Master of Business Administration and aspires to become a Certified Public Accountant in the near future. Taylor’s duties at the firm include handling audit procedures, bookkeeping, and tax return preparation.
